Matthew Doubleday (Past Speaker)

Matthew is a mathematician turned retailer,turned Data Scientist. Initially unsure what to do post-university, Matthew worked in a number of retail roles ultimately leading to running a local convenience store. Finally realising that he should do something with his maths degree he stumbled first into analytics and then into what we now call Data Science.

Now 20 years on, Matthew has led and delivered analytical projects at Aviva, M&S Money, Shop Direct and now Co-op often resulting in large changes to business performance. As Head of Data Science & Analytics for CMO at the Co-op Matthew co-leads a community of Data Scientists and continues to encourage those around him to expand their skills and to look for answers and solutions to questions that may not have been asked.
